#72 - Goals are kind of like Sculpting
Hello Readers!
Hope you are all having a nice beginning to your month of May. Today, and also this week, is teacher appreciation week here in the United States. Since I am a teacher on this website, I wanted to acknowledge this holiday, but also acknowledge you, the audience, and all of the great students worldwide. So thank you students for supporting me and my website!
Recently this week, I have been working on my next course entitled “Methods of Knowing: An In Depth Course to becoming a better Researcher”. Slowly, but surely, I will have this done next year. I’m not sure when or how. But I will get there. Meanwhile, I am working on updating the logo art for my website. I’ve been utilizing a website called PixelArt because I don’t have the space or resources to do this painting as an oil painting. It’s the best result I can get with the time that I have. But I will be redoing this painting in my own style and then publishing it into my new logo. You won’t see much difference, other than, it will probably just look slightly different. I was wanting to do a big painting like this, because this painting was originally one that was done by Grandma who passed away several years ago. It’s a great painting, but I don’t want to simply steal her work, I would rather get inspired and do my own representation of it.
And this applies to all the artwork on my website. Everything you see here is work that I have done. Nothing was outsourced, generated, or copy and pasted. This is all of my own genuine work. And if anyone ever questions them, I will be happy to show them my several hundred save states from each project that I do. Everything I complete is mostly done manually, and then I complete it, and even save different checkpoints on Google Drive. And none of my work is done with AI, you have my own hard work, research, artwork, and published text for each and everything that I do. That way, you understand the experience and lessons that I learned as a human being and educator growing up. And you also get to experience my sense of creativity. These are all important things going forward for humanity I feel. People and especially students have always found ways to cheat. Except just because the process of cheating has improved, doesn’t mean they aren’t harming themselves indirectly. But anyways that’s a whole other topic.
My post today is about setting goals. And I have high expectations and goals for this website and for the work that I do for it. I maintain these high standards because I want to do it for a living eventually. When? I don’t have an answer to that. Because there’s a lot of gears that need to be greased before things start happening. But I do think the process is a lot like sculpting. In particular, one can think of it as ice sculpting. Sculpting as an activity is actually really, really easy. And in some ways easier than drawing. You get a cube or rectangular block and all you have to do is cookie cut around you desired form. Once you cookie cut around the thing, you are then ready to start sculpting and going into the more finer details. This past year, I’ve been doing alot of structural cookie cutting as to how and which way do I want to run this website and business. But I think I finally have the formula. Yesterday, I introduced four new categories for my website and I’m still trying to fix the links on my website. However, they are: “Free”, “$1”, “Bundles”, and “Full Courses”. I really like this structure, because both parties (myself and my users) can ride up the value ladder and experience something one step at a time. I’m really happy about this structure and so I hope that this structure works well on my website.
Anyways, that is all the updates that I have this week. Have a great week!
